Dr. Lawrence Schall named President Emeritus

At its meeting this October, the Board of Trustees voted to honor Dr. Lawrence Schall with the title of President Emeritus.

Dr. Schall served as president of Âé¶¹Éç University for 15 years, from 2005 to 2020, guiding Âé¶¹Éç through a period of remarkable growth and transformation. His tenure was marked by increased financial stability, record fundraising, campus expansion, and deeper engagement with the Atlanta community.

Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Schall led the university through its largest fundraising campaign in history in 2015, followed by the successful campaign for the I.W. “Ike†Cousins Center for Science and Innovation. He also saw the establishment of the Q. William Hammack, Jr. School of Business, which was supported by the largest gift in Âé¶¹Éç’s history and the largest to a liberal arts college to create a school of business.

Under Dr. Schall’s leadership, Âé¶¹Éç invested millions in restoring its historic Peachtree Road campus and added the award-winning Turner Lynch Campus Center, two residence halls, a 6,000-square-foot residential complex with state-of-the-art classrooms, expanded athletics and arts facilities, and much more.

“Dr. Schall’s extraordinary contributions make him most deserving of this honor from the Board of Trustees,†said Dr. Kathryn McClymond, university president. “I am pleased that he has been recognized in this way.â€
