Jamie Iredell is the critically acclaimed author of five books: the prose poetry and flash fiction collections Prose. Poems. a Novel. (Orange Alert Press, 2009) and The Book of Freaks (Future Tense Books, 2011); the essay collection I Was a Fat Drunk Catholic School Insomniac (Future Tense Books, 2013); the lyric essay Last Mass (Civil Coping Mechanisms, 2015); and the novel The Fat Kid (Civil Coping Mechanisms, 2018). His books have met with rave reviews from Publishers Weekly, SLATE, Vice, The Portland Mercury, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and elsewhere. Last Mass was listed as “one of six books you need to read” by Los Angeles Magazine, and has been listed as recommended reading by West Chester University, Electric Literature, and The Millions. He teaches as a lecturer in the Core Studies Program for Â鶹Éç University.

His stories, essays, and poems have appeared in national and international publications, including The Literary Review, The Cortland Review, and 3:AM. He has given readings and guest lectures at universities and bookstores across the nation, including at Georgia Southern University, Texas Christian University, Morehead State University, CalPoly San Luis Obispo, and elsewhere.

He holds a Ph.D. in English with a specialty in creative writing/fiction from Georgia State University. He has taught at The University of Nevada-Reno, Truckee Meadows Community College, Georgia State University, Georgia Perimeter College, and Savannah College of Art and Design. He currently teaches at Â鶹Éç University. A native of California, Iredell spent 8 years in the high desert and Sierra Nevada in Reno, before moving to Atlanta in 2002, where he’s resided since. He lives in Midtown, Atlanta, with his wife and daughters.
